Happy New Year!
This year the London group will be back in full swing with regular bi-monthly meetings. To get the party started we're delighted to welcome MVP Dan Holme all the way from the USA, and our very own London co-ordinator Paul Hunt.
Here's the agenda:
18:00 - 18:30 - Registration and networking
18:30 - 19:30 - Dan Holme "A prescriptive guide for end-to-end SharePoint Governance"
SharePoint Governance is a buzzword, but why? Governance itself is not new. SharePoint, however, is a platform for delivering business solutions. As such, SharePoint shines a spotlight on everything that’s good and bad about your business processes, project management, change management, information management policies, and IT service delivery. SharePoint forces organizations to realize that governance—from the business strategic to the technical level and everywhere in between—is critical.
In this comprehensive discussion of business and service governance, SharePoint MVP Dan Holme brings together elements of respected management, project and development frameworks, informed by his experience with and lessons learned from thousands of IT professionals, managers, developers, end users and CIOs around the globe. Dan identifies the critical factors for successful governance and compliance, including vision, roles & responsibilities, accountability, measurability, process, and iteration.
You come away with messages you can use to understand and communicate the role of SharePoint to your organization, an invaluable framework with which to translate requirements to design, guidance for avoiding requirement gathering spin-cycles, and an understanding of the strategic, cultural and procedural components of a successful SharePoint implementation.
19:30 - 20:00 - Break and networking
20:00 - 21:00 - Paul Hunt "So I've installed SharePoint Search... now what?"
This session, primarily focusing on search in a SharePoint 2010 environment looks at what we can do post search installation to improve the behaviour of the search system and deliver enhanced benefits to our end users. We’ll be looking at why we should fine tune our search applications, and what options exist in SharePoint to help us do just that through the use of Keywords, Best Bets, Synonyms, the Thesaurus and finally how we make People Search work properly for English Users.
21:00 - whenever SharePint
