    MOSS Import Profiles

    Hi,

(I am new to this, 2 weeks so far)

I am trying to import the user profiles from AD, however the profiles never get imported! It just says...

An error has occurred while accessing SQL database or system resources

When I go to view the logs, there are no logs displayed.

    Any ideas?

Have you verfied that your Default Access account has rights to the resource? what logs have you checked (just the event logs or the sharepoint logs?)

    Re: MOSS Import Profiles

Hi, just the sharepoint logs. I have just applied SP1, and now get the following error....

An error has occurred while accessing the SQL Server database or the Office SharePoint Server Search service. If this is the first time you have seen this message, try again later. If this problem persists, contact your administrator.

I think it must be a problem with Office Sharepoint server search, as when I go the search admin page I get..

The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress.

Although I am not sure what Office Sharepoint server search has to do with AD!

    Re: MOSS Import Profiles

sounds like you may be getting somewhere, Give this a try now:

      1. Go to the operations tab under Central Administration
      2. Click on services on server
3.Find the SharePoint Server Search and then click the Stop button on the right right
      4. You should get a message "Are you sure you want to uninstall the Office SharePoint Server          Search service from this server?" Click OK.
      5. Go back and start the SharePoint Server Search and click Start
      6. Run iisreset from the CMD prompt
      7. It can take a few minutes for search and profiles to start-up

    See if that helps?

    Re: MOSS Import Profiles

The search is now working without errors, I also changed the search user id to an admin account.

I will try the import of users again in the morning.

Thanks a lot for the help.

    Re: MOSS Import Profiles

Couldn't resist, tried the import and it worked fine.

Although I can now see the importance of putting the actual users in groups, as everything came across.

    Thanks again.
