    Sub Site Full Control

    Hi,
Can anyone help? We have created a subsite and have added usernames to access the site. All is working okay.

We have permissioned one of the usernames to have Full Control over that site, to allow them to add new web parts and create further sub sites if needs be.

The problem is, is that the user cannot create subsites (keeps getting 'Error Access Denied' message) and also the list of Web Parts when adding a new one is not the full list (I'm the admin user for all sites and I get a much bigger list of Web Parts).

The user of the site is not in a specific group.

    Thanks in advance
    Jason

    Re: Sub Site Full Control

    Hi Jason,

The first thing to check if the web application has self service site creation enabled.  This is set in the central administration > application management.  Not sure about the webparts.  Which ones are missing?

If you have a site collection and want to delegate administrative responsibilities (create sites, design pages etc) to that user you could assign as a site collection administators in central administration > application management.

    Thanks

    Dave

    Re: Sub Site Full Control

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for this. I'll have a look at the centrail Admin bit. With regards to the web part list.

    When I edit the page on a sub site I get a long list of web parts under these headings;

    Lists & Libraries
    Business Data
    Default
    Filters
    Miscellaneous
    Outlook Web Access
    Search
    Site Directory

When the other user edits the same page they only get the List & Library and some of the Filter ones.

    Thanks
    Jason
